International Students

Our International Community

Oak Grove believes in connecting with people from all over the world, and are proud to welcome international students to our school and community! International Students make up roughly 15% of our enrolled High School students every year, and our staff is committed to making your student feel at home for their entire stay in the United States.

International Student Experience

Host Families

Each international student stays with a host family while enrolled at Oak Grove. All host families provide a personal room, food, and transportation to your child. For the entire stay your child will be supported by their host family and fellow students, from receiving help with homework, bringing them to sporting events, and even encouraging them to get involved with activities and form friendships.

On-Site Support

Our International Coordinator assists all international students with academic and personal matters as they adjust to life in the United States at Oak Grove. An orientation and international student social is held at the beginning of each school year to help new students acclimate themselves to their school, the metro area, and life in the United States.

American Culture

Our school is located in Fargo North Dakota. Fargo is a big city with a small-town feel, and has a population 174,000. Located in the part of America known as the Midwest, the people of Fargo are known for kindness, generosity, and integrity. Fargo is home to three universities, two with esteemed post-graduate programs, a high employment rate, and is a growing place for young adults to study and pursue careers.

Compensation is provided to Host Families. Inviting a student into your home can be rewarding, heartwarming and eye-opening. Your family will learn about different cultures and build relationships that will last a lifetime.

Why Host?
"Each student was treated like one of our own children. We took them out to dinner and football games, spent many occasions with our families, helped them with homework if needed, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about their cultures, families, and favorite foods back home and in the U.S. when they lived with us. We still keep in touch with three of them and their families." - Jeannie B
Why Host?
Provide a student with a life-changing experience.
